This shoot was for a client. Everything is shot on a shiny black tile (which provides a great surface for reflections) with a SB-900 in a 18″ x 18″ softbox and a silver reflector opposite the SB-900 providing the fill. Various decks were used and what you are looking at is an actual black and white deck in some of the pictures with the exception of the ace of hearts on top of the spread deck and the shot where the 10 of hearts is front and center. The 10 in that shot is actually all black and only the pips are red. Suffice to say that they are some slick looking cards.
The macro shot of the ace of hearts by itself was shot with a lens reversal ring and a Nikon 50mm 1.8. I have taken a lot of shots with a reversed lens freehand and I finally got around to purchasing a cheap lens reversal ring. By cheap I mean really cheap, I picked it up on EBay for about three bucks. Not too shabby if you ask me.
